Known as the 'Painter of Nuts', Steve
Casino has some mad skills. He goes through hundreds of peanuts to find
one that looks like the celebrity he wants to paint. He then carefully
opens the shell, takes the peanut out and glues it back together. He
smoothens out the shell, adds legs and begins the meticulous painting
process. Painting a single shell can take anywhere from 10 to 20 hours!
Post this, the shells are coated with clear acrylic. Arms are always
added in the end.
The most interesting bit is the back of the peanut shell, which he leaves untouched. He loves to show people the plain side of the peanut first and then slowly turns it to reveal the incredibly detailed painting at the front!
Everything he makes is for sale but it'll probably cost you less to fly out and meet the celebrities themselves. The price can range from anywhere between $300-$1000 each, depending on the complexity involved.
