Tej Pratap Yadav, Lalu Yadav's Debutant Son, Repeats Oath After Flub

Tej Pratap Yadav, Lalu Yadav's Debutant Son, Repeats Oath After Flub
Patna:  Tej Pratap Yadav, the politically inexperienced older son of Lalu Yadav, was third in line to be sworn in today as a minister in Bihar's Nitish Kumar government.

He was asked by Governor Ramnath Kovind to repeat his oath after a flub; he had said "Upekshit (neglected)" instead of "Apekshit (expectations)". Even in his second attempt, he fumbled on another word.

Tej Pratap, who turns 28 tomorrow, has settled for a junior role compared to his younger brother Tejaswi, who is set to take charge as Deputy Chief Minister at 26.

Though both sons of Lalu Yadav are debutants and won their first election this time, Tejaswi is widely seen as his father's political heir since he campaigned with him for last year's national election.

Lalu's oldest Misa contested the Lok Sabha election but lost. She was present at the swearing in ceremony along with two more sisters.

Misa, Tej Pratap and Tejaswi are the only ones among Lalu's nine children to join politics.

Virat Kohli Hails Wriddhiman Saha's Work Ethics

Wriddhiman Saha Colombo 2015

Bangalore: Virat Kohli's has expressed his confidence in wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha's abilities in both his keeping and batting.

When asked whether Wriddhiman had lived upto his expectations, the skipper replied: "Well, I really like Wriddhi's attitude as he is a very hard working cricketer. He is willing to do anything that the team requires. He is a brilliant wicketkeeper and very good with the bat as well. He has got a very good first-class record as he has got lot of runs in pressure situations."

The glowing praise from his skipper would do a world of good for the 31-year-old, who exactly has not done well with the bat.

"He (Wriddhiman) is still finding his feet in Test cricket and he is already confident of his keeping. He can become more confident of his batting and it will come with the amount of runs he scores and the kind of impact he makes. And be that sort of perfect No 6 or 7 for us. He is someone who can handle pressure situations really well. In the first innings of the Sydney Test, he hung in there for long time, played the fast bowlers really well."

Kohli went to the extent of saying that Wriddhiman can handle any sort of attack in any conditions.
"He is someone who can handle any conditions and any sort of attack. He has that sort of belief that more confidence has with the bat, he will develop into an important sort of member for this team."

Sheena Bora Murder: Peter Mukerjea Arrested For Allegedly Destroying Evidence, Lying, Say CBI Sources

Sheena Bora Murder: Peter Mukerjea Arrested For Allegedly Destroying Evidence, Lying, Say CBI Sources
Mumbai:  Media tycoon Peter Mukerjea, who was arrested on Thursday in connection with the Sheena Bora murder, has been charged with destroying evidence and lying to protect his wife Indrani Mukerjea, sources have told NDTV.

The sections listed against Peter Mukerjea are "causing disappearance of evidence of offence and giving false information to screen offender," sources say.

Peter Mukerjea's wife Indrani Mukerjea was arrested in August, days after the remains of Sheena Bora - her daughter - were found in a forest 80 km from Mumbai.

Sheena was strangled in 2012 allegedly by Indrani Mukerjea, her ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna and driver Shyam Rai.

Sources say Peter Mukerjea was arrested after Indrani Mukerjea's conflicting statements led the CBI to believe that he was aware of the plot to kill his step-daughter.

The Mumbai police had earlier learnt that Peter Mukerjea had received an email from Sheena's hotmail account after her disappearance. Indrani Mukerjea had allegedly used this account to send emails to Peter Mukerjea and Rahul Mukerjea, his son from a previous marriage and Sheena's fiance. She also sent mails to Vidhie Mukerjea, another daughter, and Sheena's brother Mekhail Bora.

All the family members were told that Sheena Bora had moved to US with a boyfriend.

Rahul Mukerjea was also questioned by the CBI on Thursday and left this morning.

Sources say he told the police that after Sheena's disappearance, he visited four police stations in Mumbai to lodge a missing complaint but the police didn't act after being told by Indrani that Sheena had moved to the US and Rahul was stalking her.

Rahul, sources say, has told the CBI that he had approached his father about Sheena's disappearance and questioned Indrani's claims that she had gone abroad.

Rahul had told Peter Mukerjea that Sheena Bora's passport was with him, sources say.

Sources say driver Shyam Rai has recorded a confessional statement before the CBI and is likely to turn approver in the case.

Islamic State May Join Hands With Lashkar for Attacks in India, Says Army

Islamic State May Join Hands With Lashkar for Attacks in India, Says ArmyJammu:  A top Army commander today said there was a "possibility" that global terror outfit Islamic State (IS) may join hands with Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba to launch attacks in India.

"Yes, that (IS joining hands with LeT to launch attacks in India) can be a possibility as the motive of the terrorists is to spread their propaganda.

"They want their name and for that, they can do anything. And if  they get successful, they can take advantage of it by using any name. Yes it is a possibility," General Officer Commanding of the 16 corps of the Army Lt General RR Nimbhorkar told reporters in Jammu today.

He was replying to a question whether IS can join hands with other terrorists outfits like LeT to launch Paris-type attacks in India.

Lt General RR Nimbhorkar also said there are around 700 active terrorists in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK).

On a question about the number of terrorist training camps active across the Line of Control in the PoK, he said that from the inputs that the captured terrorist Navid has given there are around 37 active camps in that region.

"See, there are a number of launching pads and we are all aware of it as it is in the open domain. So, therefore, I will not exactly say as to how many are there," he said.

The army commander said, "There are sufficient number of launching pads and if you calculate that way... take the statement which is given by terrorist captured in Udhampur attack so you can easily co-relate what he said and calculate.

"So to my mind in the entire PoK there may be about 600-700 terrorists."

He said that out of the 700 terrorists present in the PoK, half of them are ready and waiting for a chance to infiltrate into the Indian side.

"Out of them, half are ready to be launched so they can come in the launch pad and get launched," he said.

The army commander said Navid had revealed that 35-37 terrorist camps were active in the PoK region.

"35 to 37 camps are there and if in every camp there are 20-30 (terrorists), then the total figure reaches to 600-700 and out of them half are ready to be launched," he said.

Lt General RR Nimbhorkar said the terrorists were looking for ways and means to infiltrate.

"We cannot say this with certainty whether the number has increased or decreased. In my opinion, it is their job to find ways and means to infiltrate and whenever they get a chance they do it and our job is to stop them and if one of them slips in and our job is to clear them. It is an ongoing game which keeps on going," he said.

Replying to a question about radicalisation of Kashmiri youth and their attraction towards IS ideology, he said that if any organisation wants to grow then it is bound to recruit people into its folds.

"See, right now, these are speculation and we cannot say anything about it. If any organisation wants to grow, they will definitely go for recruitment, it is their job and it is to be seen in how much area they get success. It depends on their propaganda," he added.

He said, "I cannot say this with any degree of certainty if they are present or not. IS flags which are being raised we have seen these are scattered incidents, in Srinagar we cannot say with certainty about their influence having increased."

He said that the need of the hour was to remain alert and be ready to face any eventuality.

"Right now, we have to do detailed analysis but at the end it is our job that we have to be ready all the time. We have to remain alert. Whatever the name be, be it the IS, the LeT, Hizb-ul-Mujahideen etc if they attack the final result would be the same. We have to guard against that final result and I want to assure you that we are always ready," he said.

On the question about the presence of IS in terrorist training camps in the PoK, Lt General Nimbhorkar said that nothing can be said with certainty about the presence of IS in PoK.

On reports about youth in Kashmir being radicalised by the use of Internet and that IS was trying to spread its ideology in the Valley through social media, the officer said that it has become a global problem.

"See management of the Internet is a worldwide problem. It is a power that can be used by anyone, who is not empowered by other means. They can use this media to their advantage. So how to fight it, is a different issue altogether and that has to be dealt and looked into its perspective," he said.

"This stance of yours that the IS is using the (social) media is correct and I have read it on the net that they are using it to their advantage. But I am quite certain people at the helm of affairs are aware of this and they will take necessary measures to counter it in a manner which is legal and firm," he said.

On another question about the threat of IS penetrating into the Kashmir Valley, he said, "I feel that and I have said it that IS is a worldwide problem and people are aware of this issue.

"As far as our area is concerned, whether it is IS whether it is LeT, they all are inimical to us and we have to be guarding against this. Our basic philosophy of not allowing them to intrude or infiltrate and we are geared up for the same. And so therefore any action on their part we are ready to counter them," he said.

He said that if terrorists would get a chance they would try to target the civilian areas as they have done in the past, but the methodology adopted by the army was helping prevent such attempts.

On the issue of Armed Forces Special Powers Act, Lt General Nimbhorkar said that the top brass of the force was aware of the issue and it was being discussed at the highest level in the government.

"They are aware about the issue of AFSPA and they will take up appropriate decision on it," he said.

'Cow Killers Have No Right to Live in India', Says Uttarakhand Chief Minister

'Cow Killers Have No Right to Live in India', Says Uttarakhand Chief MinisterHaridwar:  Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat of the Congress is the latest to add to controversial comments on beef and cow slaughter. He has said that those who kill cows have "no right to live in the country."

"Anyone who kills cows, no matter which community he belongs to, is India's biggest enemy and has no right to live in the country," Mr Rawat said at a function in the holy city of Haridwar on Tuesday.

The Chief Minister said the law would deal sternly with those who kill cows in Uttarakhand, and the state government would do everything to protect cows.

His government, he said, had passed a proposal against cow slaughter. He went on to say that Uttarakhand is the only state which gives not only land for cowsheds but also helps in arranging for their fodder.

The Chief Minister's statement runs contrary to the stand of his Congress party, which has strongly protested against recent incidents and pronouncements linked to cow slaughter amid a swirling debate on "intolerance" in the country.

Last month, ML Khattar, the Chief Minister of BJP-ruled Haryana, had backtracked after appearing to suggest that Muslims in the country must give up beef. "Muslims can stay, but in this country they will have to give up eating beef. The cow is an article of faith here," Mr Khattar was quoted by a newspaper as saying.

Mr Khattar later amended that all he meant was "we should show respect for each other's sentiment."

A sample Rs 1000 meal

The VAT + Service Tax (Including Swachch Bharat Cess) would be Rs 195.5. (Govt earning 195.5)

Now to take home that Rs 1000, I had to earn Rs 1333.33 rupees (25% approx Income Tax on salary). (Govt. earning Rs 333.33)

I had to use my bike for the 20km trip to and for home. Fuel Expenses -  Rs 45 (Govt earns Rs 23 on that. Including latest excise hike of 1.50

So when i went out for a meal for Rs 1000, the Govt. earned 195.5+333.33+23= 551 Rupees.
In total I have to earn Rs 1551 to have Rs 1000 meal outside home

This is today's scenario on direct and indirect taxation.

Where is Lokpal? Opposition Asks Kejriwal on Twitter and in Assembly

Where is Lokpal? Opposition Asks Kejriwal on Twitter and in AssemblyNew Delhi:  Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal faced some sharp criticism on Wednesday over his government's failure to pass the Jan Lokpal bill despite the Aam Admi Party's brute majority in the assembly. The same question was raised by the BJP inside the assembly, and outside by the Congress.

#KejriwalWhereIsLokpal shot up to become a top trend on twitter, hours before the Delhi assembly session began this afternoon.

As #KejriwalWhereIsLokpal trended for long hours on Twitter, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal's political rivals also demanded to know why his government has failed to pass the Jan Lokpal bill despite his party's majority.

The Jan Lokpal bill, which provides for a strong anti-corruption ombudsman, was one of the main election planks of Mr Kejriwal's party for the February assembly elections. But it is not among the six bills listed for passage in the current session of the assembly, though the AAP government has said it will be brought in this session, which ends next week.

Ajay Maken, Delhi Congress chief noted on Twitter,
Outside the Delhi assembly Mr Maken, whose party did not win a single seat in the February elections swept by AAP, led a demonstration to protest against "AAP government's failure" to bring the Jan Lokpal Bill.

In the House, the opposition, made up of three BJP lawmakers, said, "Jiske liye sarkar chhodi, wahi bill nahi aaya hai (the bill for which Mr Kejriwal resigned from government, hasn't come)", in a reference to Mr Kejriwal's first stint that began in December 2013 and lasted 49 days.

But it was on Twitter, a platform Mr Kejriwal uses regularly, that he drew the most scathing criticism.

Soon the BJP's supporters joined in.

Khalnayak May be Remade But by Bhansali, Not Johar

Khalnayak
Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali wants to remake 1993 film Khalnayak but is yet to buy its rights, confirmed the film's director Subhash Ghai.

"There was a talk for sure when he (Sanjay Leela Bhansali) had come for lunch at my home and he wanted the rights of Khalnayak," Mr Ghai told PTI. "I have asked for around Rs 8 to 9 crore. I think he is too tied up with his current film production (Bajirao Mastani)," he added.

Mr Ghai, however, denied reports that filmmaker Karan Johar also wanted to remake Khalnayak. "No, it is not true. But other producers, yes. I can't reveal names," he said.

Khalnayak revolved around the escape and capture of a terrorist, Ballu (Sanjay Dutt), by Inspector Ram (Jackie Shroff) and Ganga (Madhuri Dixit).

"Suddenly this (Khalnayak) has become the hottest product being talked about in market today. We are getting offers from few more producers," Mr Ghai said.

Last year, the director sold the remake rights of his blockbuster film Ram Lakhan to filmmaker Karan Johar, which will be directed by Rohit Shetty.

Seventh Pay Commission Report on Thursday, 15% Hike Expected: Sources

Seventh Pay Commission Report on Thursday, 15% Hike Expected: SourcesCentral government employees and pensioners are likely to be disappointed as the 7th Pay Commission is expected to propose an approximate 15 per cent hike in salaries starting January 1, 2016, sources told NDTV.

The recommendation, which will become effective after a Cabinet nod, will impact 50 lakh central government employees and 54 lakh pensioners.

The 15 per cent salary hike likely to be recommended by the 7th Pay Commission will be much lower than the 35 per cent hike employees got on implementation of the 6th Pay Commission in 2008.

A 15 per cent salary increase would push up the central government's salary bill by Rs 25,000 crore, which is 0.2 per cent of India's GDP, according to Bank of America Merrill Lynch estimates.

Economists expect the wage hikes to boost the consumption-driven recovery in the domestic economy. Sales of affordable homes and consumer durables such as cars, two-wheelers and other electronic items are likely to pick up, analysts say.

On the flip side, salary hikes are also expected to stoke inflation and fiscal pressures, economists say.

According to sources, the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission will be submitted to the finance minister on Thursday. The 7th Pay Commission is unlikely to suggest changes in the retirement age of central government employees, sources said.

Pay Commissions are meant to review the salary structure of central government employees and are set up every 10 years.

He Fries Pakoras With His Bare Hands

He Fries Pakoras With His Bare Hands

Ram Babu sells over a hundred kilograms of fries each day and makes around Rs. 2000.
A street chef in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh has been dubbed super hands - thanks to his ability to dip his hands into boiling hot oil unscathed.

Ram Babu regularly attracts hordes of spectators, who come to see his astonishing ability. The 60-year-old snack seller can bury his bare hands into searing cooking oil heated up to 200C for frying fritters.

"People from far away come to see me frying pakoras without burning my hands. I have been doing this for more than forty years but have never suffered blisters or any burn injury," he says.

When Babu - who fries potato and eggplant wedges at his roadside stall - started selling the deep-fried snacks to make ends meet at the age of just 20, he never thought his small stall would see such a large turnout. But as the demand grew, Babu stopped using any apparatus to save time - opting to spoon them out with his hands.

"Using the heavy spatula was time consuming. One day, there was a throng of customers at the shop and I had no helping hand. In panic, I mistakenly put my bare hands to take out fries. Before I could realise, my hands were deep into the pan of bubbling oil. I immediately took my hands out expecting blisters covering my hand but surprisingly there was nothing," he recalls.

"Ever since that day I decided to not use spatula. I have never been hurt, it feels as if I am putting my hands in water," he adds.

Babu sells over a hundred kilograms of fries each day and makes around Rs. 2000. "People go bonkers seeing me doing this, they keep asking if I have done some magic - but I simply smile and say this is all God's magic," he says.

Over the years, Babu has earned a bevy of customers and a huge fan following over the years, who travel from across the capital region to sample his crispy fries.

Amit Singh who is a frequent customer at Babu's stall says: "It really surprises me when I see him pulling out the fritters straight out of the pan. One has to see to believe him doing this.

"I can never think of even touching that boiling oil but he astonishingly takes out crispy pakoras as if they have been fried in cold water. And the fritters taste really good."

And just like his customers, Babu's unique ability has also left doctors baffled. He says: "As my popularity grew, several doctors approached me for research. Many took the sample of my skin, but none found anything unusual. I do not know why I am like this but as long as I am unhurt and my ability helps me make money, I will happily fry fritters with my hands."

FSSAI Moves Supreme Court Against Lifting Ban on Maggi Noodles

FSSAI Moves Supreme Court Against Lifting Ban on Maggi NoodlesIndia's food safety authority, FSSAI,  has appealed to the supreme court against a regional court order overturning a nationwide ban on Maggi instant noodles sold by the local unit of Nestle India.
Nestle India resumed selling its popular Maggi noodles this month after getting the green signal from government laboratories, as mandated by the Bombay High Court in August. The appeal, if admitted by the Supreme Court, could upset the Swiss food giant's plans to revive Maggi sales after Indian regulators reported in May that some packets of the noodles contained unsafe levels of lead.

Nestle India can continue selling the noodles for now. "We have filed the plea in the Supreme Court," Mansoor Khan, a lawyer for the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), a government body, said. He said the appeal had been filed against the Bombay High Court verdict in favour of Nestle.

The FSSAI petition in the Supreme Court says the regional court erred by asking Nestle itself, instead of asking a neutral authority, to provide the fresh Maggi samples for testing at the government laboratories, according to the Hindu newspaper. "It has been brought to our attention that the Supreme Court website has posted that the Food Safety and Standards Authority has filed a case against Nestle India Ltd and others," a Nestle India spokesman said in a statement.

"We have not been served a notice about this and are not yet aware of its content. However, we would like to reiterate that Nestle India is confident of the quality and safety of Maggi noodles and so we will defend ourselves vigorously." FSSAI chief Ashish Bahuguna declined to comment.

Five children trafficked to Bangladesh handed over to BSFAGARTALA: Five children, who were trafficked to neighbouring Bangladesh by their close relative, have been handed over to the BSF by Bangladesh Border Guards after 23 days, the police said on Monday.

The children, aged between 8 and 11 years, were all residents of Purba-Gokulpur village in Gomati district.
Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Gomati district Ratan Das said, on receipt of FIR from their parents, the police started investigation and found that the children were trafficked to Bangladesh.

Accordingly, the police informed the matter to BSF to take it up with BGB.

Bangladesh police recovered the children in Companyganj area of Mahalia district of the neighbouring country on October 24 and produced them in a local court there on the following day.

KCR tears into Congress, TDP

KCR tears into Congress, TDPWARANGAL: Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday tore into opposition parties in the state in an attempt to shred their credibility in the run up to the November 21 bypoll to Warangal LS constituency.

Addressing a public meeting at Hanamkonda, KCR minced no words in ridiculing Congress, TDP and BJP leaders who have been campaigning in the constituency for the past few days. The ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi has fielded Pasunuri Dayakar as its candidate for the bypoll. The meeting was attended by several ministers and TRS legislators.

Though the chief minister spoke about various programmes taken up by the government such as Mission Kakatiya, drinking water supply and uninterrupted power supply to agriculture, he dwelt at some length on the issue of farmers' suicides. "Before the TRS came to power, farmers had to stand in long queues to buy seeds and fertilizers. This government ensured that these were freely available. The suicides are a result of the policies of the previous governments of Congress and TDP," KCR said.

He also accused the opposition parties of paying money to some cotton farmers and encouraging them to set fire to their crops in a bid to malign the TRS government. He blamed the opposition for the recent slipper-throwing incident during deputy CM Kadiyam Srihari's meeting. "Some media also has a role in this. The opposition resorts to such dramas to fool voters in Warangal," KCR said.

Calling on voters to elect Dayakar with a huge majority, he said Congress leader K Jana Reddy had sold himself for a ministerial berth in unified AP. "He (Jana Reddy) launched the Telangana Forum when he was denied a berth in the ministry by the then chief minister K Vijayabhaskar Reddy and sought my support. I sent him back saying you do not have the welfare of Telangana at your heart but only want to be a minister. Sure enough, a few days later, he was made agriculture minister and then disbanded the forum," KCR said. He also criticised former Union minister S Jaipal Reddy for not doing anything worthwhile for the Telangana cause during his term as central minister.

Turning his attention to the BJP, KCR asked state BJP president G Kishan Reddy to recollect what his party leader and Union minister Venkaiah Naidu had said recently. KCR said, "Venkaiah Naidu said that the central government, which was in power for the past 17 months, did not possess Alladin's magic lamp to solve all challenges instantly. So does Kishan Reddy expect the TRS government to have one? If the all-powerful central government says it cannot do everything overnight, how can a state government perform miracles?"

"If I have spoken lies, then punish me. If not, then teach the opposition parties a lesson by ensuring Dayakar's victory," he said.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni Set for Domestic Cricket Comeback After Eight Years

Mahendra Singh Dhoni 1711Bengaluru: India's limited overs captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is all set to feature in domestic cricket after a gap of eight years as he is likely to play for Jharkhand in the Vijay Hazare Trophy next month in case the Pakistan series does not happen.
Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) secretary Rajesh Verma said that the star cricketer has expressed his desire to play for the state team.
"We have spoken to Dhoni and he has said that in all likelihood he will be available (if there's no Pakistan series) to play for Jharkhand in Vijay Hazare Trophy. We have not discussed as to how many matches he will play or whether he would like to lead the side. But if he wants obviously, he will lead the side," Verma told PTI over phone from Ranchi.
Dhoni last played for Jharkhand in the 2007 East Zone leg of Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Championship in Kolkata after the Indian team made an inglorious exit from the group stage of the 2007 World Cup.
"His presence obviously will be a great boost for the boys. Whenever Dhoni has got an opportunity, he has had encouraging words for the boys. Only day before I saw him training at the main stadium alone. Right now the senior team is in Tripura for Ranji Trophy," Verma said.
What seems to have brought about this opportunity for Jharkhand is the fact that Dhoni no longer plays Test cricket. The last international he played was an ODI against South Africa on October 25.
With no clarity on the series against Pakistan, India's next assignment is the limited overs series in Australia in mid-January.
If Pakistan series does not happen, Dhoni would have been out of match practice for close to three months. The 50-over matches against first-class sides will at least allow him to get some match time before he goes Down Under.

Srinagar:  The Army is today honouring Colonel Santosh Mahadik who was killed on Tuesday in a fierce gunbattle with terrorists in the forests of Kupwara in north Kashmir.

The 38-year-old Colonel of the Army's elite Para Commando force was the Commanding Officer of 41 Rashtriya Rifles. He was leading his troops in the encounter against four terrorists when he was shot and wounded. He died in hospital.

For the last one week, the Colonel and his troops had launched a cordon and search operation in Manigah forest area. Three days ago, two soldiers were injured in a gunfight but the terrorists managed to escape. That morning, as they zeroed in on the cordon, they came under heavy firing. Three soldiers and a Jammu and Kashmir police personnel were also injured in the gunfight.

Colonel Mahadik was from Maharashtra and is survived by his wife and two children, 11 and five years of age. The Army said the Colonel had conducted many successful counter-terrorist operations and had earlier been awarded the Sena medal for gallantry.

"We owe a deep debt of gratitude to officers like Santosh who lead from the front and are willing to pay the ultimate price in the fight against terrorism," Lieutenant General DS Hooda, Army Commander, Northern Command said.

Colonel Mahadik was the second senior officer killed while fighting terrorists in Kashmir.

Colonel MM Rai, commanding officer of 42 Rashtriya Rifles, was killed in January in an encounter with terrorists in south Kashmir's Tral area.
