Actress
Rani Mukherji, who is expecting her first child with husband filmmaker
Aditya Chopra, is feeling well but is likely to remain hospitalised for
few more days.
The 37-year-old actress, who was admitted to a suburban hospital after
Diwali for a minor complication, has apparently chosen to remain there
for some more time.
"She is in the hospital and will be there for few days as work is going
on at her house, so her stay in the hospital has been extended," sources
said.
"She is fine. She is still in hospital and resting," they added.
Rani married Yash Raj Films' Aditya Chopra in a quiet ceremony in Italy. The couple will welcome their child in January 2016.
Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali wants to remake 1993 film Khalnayak but is yet to buy its rights, confirmed the film's director Subhash Ghai.
"There was a talk for sure when he (Sanjay Leela Bhansali) had come for lunch at my home and he wanted the rights of Khalnayak," Mr Ghai told PTI. "I have asked for around Rs 8 to 9 crore. I think he is too tied up with his current film production (Bajirao Mastani)," he added.
Mr Ghai, however, denied reports that filmmaker Karan Johar also wanted to remake Khalnayak. "No, it is not true. But other producers, yes. I can't reveal names," he said.
Khalnayak
revolved around the escape and capture of a terrorist, Ballu (Sanjay
Dutt), by Inspector Ram (Jackie Shroff) and Ganga (Madhuri Dixit).
"Suddenly this (Khalnayak) has become the hottest product being
talked about in market today. We are getting offers from few more
producers," Mr Ghai said.
Last year, the director sold the remake rights of his blockbuster film Ram Lakhan to filmmaker Karan Johar, which will be directed by Rohit Shetty.
Just in case you missed it, the hotly-anticipated Bajirao Mastani dance number featuring Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra was released over the weekend.
Remember Dola Re with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Madhuri Dixit from Devdas? Replace the actresses, swap the Bengali red and white saris for heavily embellished ones in jewel tones, change the setting from a zamindar's mansion to a Peshwa's palace and you have Pinga, which is basically Dola Re 2.0.
Why change a winning formula, right?
Deepika stars as the Mastani of the title, the second wife of Maratha
leader Peshwa Baji Rao I, played by Ranveer Singh. Priyanka Chopra
appears as the Peshwa's first wife Kashibai. Bajirao Mastani, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali who also serves as composer, releases on December 18.
Pinga is now available on YouTube and if you haven't watched it yet, here you go:
Abhishek Bachchan gets candid about work, family and how he feels he will always be in his father's shadow.
Being happy in whatever he does is most important for
Abhishek Bachchan. And that's something that comes across in his
interview with Niranjan Iyengar on Look Who's Talking.
The actor elaborates, "I was really sad when Khele Hum Jee Jaan Se
didn't get the response it deserved. I believed that freedom fighter
deserved a better response. At that time, what the film's director
Ashutosh Gowariker told me, really hit me. He said, 'Set a goal for
yourself and be happy when you achieve it. Be happy when you do your
work perfectly. Don't care about the world. You can't lose yourself in
quests of pleasing others. It's of no use.' "
"Going back to a happy, healthy family at the end of the day is more
important than being successful," says AB Jr. He confesses that he's
more like his mother than his father and even acts like her. "I am a
people's person like her. I am very outgoing. My dad is a loner. He
likes to have us around. He would call us in his study and we used to
sit there for hours without saying a word. We were never brought up as
star kids. We were any other normal family," he admits.
About his soulmate, Abhishek says they were meant to be. "Aishwarya
is like an anchor for me. My parents had always given me the freedom to
do whatever I wanted. I was carefree. After marriage and my daughter's
arrival, I have become more responsible. She is my buddy, a friend. I
can discuss anything with her. Our relationship is not based on her being the Aishwarya Rai
or me coming from an illustrious family. It is just about two people
falling in love which was organically grown. We shot three films back-to-back for a year at that time. It started during Guru. We were meant to be, it's destiny."
And about his daughter, Abhishek says that, at times, Aaradhya
behaves older than him! "She is a very easy, very happy, very loving
kid. Aishwarya has to be given the credit for the same. She is always
around for Aaradhya. Even when Aishwarya will start working, there won't
be any problem as she is very organised. She thinks about everything
beforehand. I have only once changed a diaper as Aishwarya is so prompt
that she hardly gives anyone else a chance to do anything. I will never
do anything that will bring shame to my daughter today or 10 years down
the line."
Shyness is a trait that comes easily to him. "I cannot walk into a
room alone (restaurants, public spaces). So, the mobile phone is a boon.
I pretend that I am on call if I have to be alone in public spaces!"
One has rarely spotted him without a beard. The face fuzz has been a
constant feature since he was studying abroad he had long hair and a
beard. "I look very innocent and immature without a stubble," he grins.
And no, he is not obsessed about looking good on screen. "I am not a
vain person. I am in the wrong profession, I guess. I feel I don't have
to look good onscreen all the time. I should look the character," he
shares. It's the same about skin show. He feels that one doesn't have to
take out his shirt just because he has a good physique. "If it's the
need of the character then fine. I give a lot of importance to
physicality as it's an important part of getting into character. That is
why I had put on a lot of weight for Guru," he says.
What was his most difficult scene, Abhishek said that Kabhi Alvida Na
Kehnaa (KANK) was a challenging film. "Hrishi's character was really
difficult. I had to play a man who's innocent like a kid. In a
particular scene where I meet Rani (Mukerji) for the first time after we
split up and I have to inform her that my dad is dead and hand over his
photo. My dad (Amitabh) is playing that character and it's his photo I
am holding in my hand. It was most difficult scene of my life. There are
few moments in every actor's life where it's more personal than acting.
The scene started and I was holding my dad's picture and say that he is
dead. After the scene I just broke down and started crying. I was
sitting in a corner and Karan came up to me as he understood what I was
feeling. He just hugged me as he too was missing his dad. He teared up
too; even Rani started crying looking at us. It was too special. Micky
(Contractor) took me for a long drive after that where I told I am in
love with Aishwarya. We were not dating then."
Abhishek is sensitive to criticism. Ravan, he said, was a very tough
film for him both physically and mentally. "Media criticism after the
film was disheartening. I lost my confidence after that. There were
times when I did not want to go home as I used to feel that I am not
worthy of father's name. I am still picking pieces after that. I
understand as public figures we are subjected to public scrutiny. But we
actors are human beings too with real feelings. One doesn't need to be
shown mirror in public on weekly basis."
But this serious side aside, he's a known prankster who loves to
fool around and have fun. "I am free-spirited. I have worked on
different levels of film-making, so I am comfortable with people on set.
I too have lot of inhibitions as an actor. Mingling with others on the
set and having fun helps me manage that," he says, adding that it
bothers him when people think he is not serious about his work because
he is funny.

The ceremony was attended by her family and close friends. Dia is

Sahil had proposed to Dia in New York in April this year, after their visit to an award show in Tampa Bay.
The duo co-own a production house called Born Free Entertainment, which released its second project Bobby Jasoos earlier this year, featuring actress Vidya Balan in the lead role.
Actor Shahid Kapoor, who stole millions of hearts with his chocolate boy
looks and charm in his debut film ISHQ VISHK back in 2003, feels that
he is too old to portray the character of Rajiv Mathur again in the
sequel of the film.
"I am too outgrown to be a part of ISHQ VISHK sequel. And also I am
not aware of this (sequel) hence it would be wrong for me to talk about
it. But if he (Ken Ghosh) is making it, then I wish him all the best. He
did a great job with first one and I hope he does a better job with
second one and gives some more newcomers the opportunity in the
industry. But I can't do ISHQ VISHQ again," declares Shahid.
Meanwhile, Shahid Kapoor is currently gearing up for his next film,
Vikas Bahl's SHAANDAR opposite Alia Bhatt. The film also stars his
father Pankaj Kapoor and is produced by Karan Johar's Dharma
Productions.
Sonakshi Sinha is quite excited about her Tamil film LINGA opposite
'Thalaiva' Rajinikanth. The film which went on-floors earlier this year
also stars Southern actress Anushka Shetty.
While the film is on the verge of a wrap up, the actors are busy
shooting for a grand number. Sonakshi confirmed about the same on a
micro-blogging site. "Its time to sing and dance... In tamil!! Shooting
the last song for Lingaa, royal and grand," confirmed Sinha.
The film is directed by K.S. Ravikumar and the music of the film is
done by A.R. Rahman. LINGA is slated to release on December 12, 2014.
After Aamir Khan, Anushka Sharma is all set to shock the audiences by
posing in a transistor, as she gears up to unveil her first look from
PK.
Anushka got on to a micro-blogging site and posted about the same.
"Mujhe tukur tukur dekhna hai? Toh pehle isse dekho:

While Aamir stunned the audience with his first look in PK poster, one curiously awaits to know Anushka Sharma's look.
We all loved the Hollywood film We’re the Millers. It can be said that is one of the best comedies made in Hollywood.
But, have you ever thought that if We’re the Millers was made
Bollywood then which actors would have been fit for the roles. Well let
us tell you; according to us which actors would be fit for the Bollywood
remake of We’re the Millers.
1) Jason Sudeikis – Saif Ali Khan
Saif Ali Khan as Jason Sudeikis
Jason Sudeikis played the lead role in the film We’re the Millers. He
is the one, who creates the Millers to get the drugs. Well, to play
this character in Bollywood we think the most suitable actor will be
Saif Ali Khan. Saif has the charm to perform a comedy act very well.
2) Jennifer Aniston – Kareena Kapoor Khan
Kareena Kapoor Khan as Jennifer Aniston
Jennifer Aniston played the character of a striper turned wife
perfectly well. Her act in the film was top notch and she finely got the
glamour quotient in the film. After watching the film there’s only one
Bollywood actress that comes in our mind and she is Kareena Kapoor Khan.
Kareena is sexy and when it comes to comedy, she has always proved that
she is best at it.
3) Emma Roberts – Alia Bhatt
Alia Bhatt as Emma Roberts
Emma Roberts played the role of a teenage girl in the film. She is
funky and bindass. To get the coolness of Emma Roberts onscreen we feel
Alia Bhat will be the ideal choice. Alia has the look and she has the
buoyancy to carry the role.
4) Will Poulter – Tiger Shroff
Tiger Shroff as Will Poulter
Will Poulter was really cute in the film and had a childish touch in
his character. It is really difficult to find someone, who can reach the
level of Poulter, but we think the new-bee of Bollywood, Tiger Shroff
will look good in his role. Tiger surely has the wonderful cuteness on
his face, required for the role.
After a marvelous performance in her last outing - Mardaani - playing the tough cop Shivani Shivaji Rao, Rani Mukerji is all set to take up another bold role. Reportedly, Rani is all set to play Dawood Ibrahim's sister in a film based on her.
Apoorva Lakhia who is helming the film has tentatively titled it Haseena
and has approached Rani to play her part. Haseena Parkar, a prominent
figure in the underworld came to news after her husband was gunned down
in 1991. Avenging his brother-in-law's death, Dawood shot down the
murders in the infamous J.J. Hospital shootout. Not just that, post the
incident, Haseena moved to Nagpada where she was considered the
'godmother'.
Haseena passed away on July 4 after a cardiac arrest but Apoorva had
been planning the project for over a year now. The director has also
spent time with Haseena's family to bring in the perfect details to his
screen adaptation. The film is supposed to go on floors in November and
required Rani to gain some weight for the same.
If Rani gives a nod to this, it would be her first biopic and given her Mardaani avatar being loved by the audiences, we believe Rani can pull off this role with equal aplomb!
Actress Deepika Padukone says the payment disparity between male and female stars in Bollywood is a concern but it should not become a cause for conflict.
The 28-year-old actress has had a dream run at the box office with back-to-back hits like Race 2, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Chennai Express,Ram-Leela and the latest Finding Fanny recently.
Deepika says actresses are trying hard to change the irregularity in
pay scale in the film industry. "If you comparing our pay scale with the
men, then yes it is very less. If you are comparing what girls used to
get before and what they are getting in the last one or two years then I
can say that there has been a major shift and we are hoping and trying.
But this is not a war," Deepika said in an interview.
The actress feels when people give more stress on monetary gains, the beauty of filmmaking is compromised in the process.
"At the end of the day we are all making movies because we all love
films and we should not get into the space of negativity where we are
discussing who is getting what amount of money. In that process we are
loosing the beauty of film making. Money is the least important to me,
fans' appreciation is the most important thing to me," she said.
Several of Deepika's films are part of the elite 100 crore club but
the actress said she never signs a film keeping in mind its box office
performance. "I don't choose films based on Rs 100 crores. If one does
that then it is a wrong reason to do a film. For me box office at that
level is not so important or rather I do not sign films for those kind
of numbers.
"Like Ram Leela, we never thought that the film will make
such business. I have got the Filmfare award and the film has made 100
crores as well. You have to choose films from your heart. And also
awards are important to me. It is a sign of appreciation for your hard
work," she said.
Deepika will be next seen opposite superstar Shah Rukh Khan in Farah Khan's Happy New Year. The duo have previously worked in Om Shanti Om and Chennai Express. Besides SRK, Deepika has worked with top stars of Bollywood like Saif Ali Khan, Akshay Kumar but is yet to work with Salman Khan.
When asked whether they will do a film in future, the actress said,
"Films are all in destiny. You can't force a film to happen. People do
ask me a lot why I have not worked with Salman Khan yet. Both of us would like to work with each other but every film has a time."
British
director Peter Webber, best known for his Scarlett Johansson-Colin
Firth starrer feature debut 'Girl with a Pearl Earring', says he would
love to make a cross-cultural film with Bollywood megastar Amitabh
Bachchan.
"I would love to work to with Amitabh Bachchan.
Who would not? He is a living legend. He is amazing and I would like to
make a movie with him, which has elements of both India and England,
basically a cross-cultural film. That would be interesting," Webber told
in an interview.
The director is in India to judge the International Competition section
at the ongoing Mumbai Film Festival with filmmakers Mahamat Saleh
Haroun, Ritesh Batra and Ron Mann.
Webber said Bachchan and other Bollywood stars like Shah Rukh Khan enjoy huge popularity in England.
"There is a big Indian community in England, so we all know about Bollywood actors and they are really famous."
Webber is looking forward to watching some Bollywood films as he is not well acquainted with contemporary Indian cinema.
"I am not an expert on contemporary Indian films. I have not watched
any but I am fond of the old era of Satyajit Ray and Guru Dutt's times. I
like those movies. I am hoping to catch on some good Indian stuff now,"
the filmmaker said, adding that he would like to collaborate with
Indian filmmakers.
As a part of the jury, Webber says he does
not have any set criterion to mark the films in competition but will
look for storyline and performances.
"I will see if a story is
captivating enough, if it is told in an interesting manner and whether
performances are great or not."
Webber, who mostly chooses
history as his main subject in his films, will next direct 'Piano
Tuner', based on Daniel Mason's acclaimed historical novel.
It
is set in 1886 and follows a piano tuner who receives a request by the
British War Office to deliver a rare grand piano to a legendary British
Officer in the remote jungles of northeast Burma.
It was a Bollywood extravaganza when actor Riteish Deshmukh married girlfriend Genelia D’Souza. Almost the entire Bollywood fraternity was present to witness the first big wedding of the year.
The wedding was a traditional marathi ceremony. While the groom wore a cream sherwani, bride was dressed in a Nishika Lulla red saree. Genelia maharashtrian look was styled by Lulla’s daughter, Nishika.
The baraatis arrived at The Grand Hyatt, the wedding venue, around noon. Guests started flowing in soon after. Abhishek Bachchan came along with his mother Jaya Bachchan and Ajay Devgn and Kajol. The foursome wished the couple and were the first few to leave.
One of the first one to arrive was actor Jacky Bhagnani. Close pal Ashish Choudhary was seen hiding the groom’s shoes from the bride’s sisters. Riteish’s co star from ‘Heyy Baby’, Akshay Kumar and the film’s director, Sajid Khan were seen chatting up with Jackie Shroff.
Dressed in a white jacket and black trousers, Shah Rukh Khan walked in with wife Gauri and daughter Suhana. While Gauri matched her outfit with her hubby, and wore a white and gold lehenga, daughter Suhana chose to wear a bright pink lehenga.
Maria Goretti decided to stick to the wedding theme and arrived in a traditional paithani saree and looked like a typical Marathi mulgi.
Politician Raj Thackeray walked in with his wife and headed straight towards the mandap.
Asin looked breathtaking in a traditional white and gold saree. She accessorized her look with white flowers in her hair and gold jewelry.
Soon after the wedding, actor Shahid Kapoor tweetd, “And G is married !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Unbeleivable. (sic)”.
Riteish Deshmukh tweeted a picture of his and his new bride with the caption ‘Mr &Mrs Deshmukh’.
The wedding celebrations started on Tuesday with a grand Sangeet ceremony which was attended by the entire film industry and was hosted by filmmaker Karan Johar.
The party continued till the wee hours of the morning. On Wednesday, an impromptu party was thrown at Genelia’s residence which later shifted to the couple’s new flat in Juhu.
On Thursday, the pre wedding rituals took place at both the bride and the groom’s residence. While Riteish had his haldi ceremony, Genelia, who is a Christian, had the traditional rose ceremony where close friends of the bride pour coconut milk on her a day before the wedding.
Later in the evening, Genelia was spotted visiting a church in her friends. Dressed in jeans, shirt and black jacket, Genelia looked happy and glowing.
Speaking to DNA, a source said, “Yesterday Riteish had the haldi ceremony, after which he isn’t going to be allowed to step out of the house until the wedding today. But his friends kept him busy all day through and he was rather excited too.”
The excited groom tweeted on Thursday evening, “Saw the Last sunset as a Bachelor(sic)”.
Post wedding, a lavish lunch was organized for the guests. The reception will take place tomorrow.
Even though Kareena Kapoor has denied her impending marriage to Saif Ali Khan, rumours are abuzz that the couple will be getting engaged on 10 February.
While earlier sources close to the couple had said that they would be getting married right after the release of their film ‘Agent Vinod’ in March, seems like the hot jodi wants to speed up its wedding and hence getting engaged on the Valentine month.
Speaking to DNA, a source said, “Both Saif and Bebo have been going steady for several years and are now ready to take
that relationship to another level with a wedding. And the first step towards the grand wedding may take off with an engagement on 10th February. They have deliberately avoided having their engagement on Valentine’s Day, instead they have planned the event around the day. Though Saif is extremely busy with post production work of ‘Agent Vinod’ and Kareena travelling for the film promotion of ‘Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu’, they are quite excited about the engagement.” That also probably explains why Kareena recently bought a royal necklace worth Rs 40 lakhs. Friends of the couple say that the venue of the engagement hasn’t been finalized yet but it would either take place in Mumbai or in Saif’s Delhi residence. “Wherever it happens, the engagement is going to be a big event. Both their family members are gearing up for a big celebration and are busy with the preparations around the ring ceremony. Bebo is currently in London along with Karisma, but has ensured that all her close friends be there for the special day in her life. She may wear an ethnic outfit designed by (fashion designer) Vikram Phadnis,” added the source.
With Riteish-Genelia all set to tie the knot on Friday and Saifeena getting engaged the next week, it looks like Bollywood is all set for the wedding season.
After attending the Filmfare awards, Bollywood King Khan Shah Rukh Khan (SRK) made his way to Aurus, a restaurant and lounge bar in Juhu, northwest Mumbai, well past midnight, to attend Sanjay Dutt’s Agneepath success party.
Unfortunately, SRK ran into his former friend director Farah Khan and her director husband Shirish Kunder at the party.
According to sources, SRK confronted Kunder about his Ra.One jibes on Twitter.
The evening Ra.One was released, Kunder had tweeted: ‘I just heard a 150 Cr firework fizzle.’
A slanging match followed, which suddenly turned to blows.
Sanjay Dutt intervened and stopped SRK from assaulting Kunder further.
Dutt and Sameer Arya, filmmaker Goldie Behl’s brother-in-law, escorted SRK out of the restaurant.
Discussing the incident, Farah Khan said, “Shah Rukh has always told me that physical abuse is the worst way to sort out a problem, and that it means the person who is hitting has either a personal or professional crisis going on. It saddens me to see him doing the same.”

Painter Pranava Prakash attacked at a gallery in the Capital, where he is exhibiting a number of nude paintings of Vidya Balan, Veena Malik and Poonam Pandey
In yet another blot on artistic freedom of expression in the country, five unknown men, miffed with kitsch paintings put on show at a gallery, assaulted artist Pranava Prakash yesterday.
Prakash was attacked while he was showcasing his paintings of Bollywood celebs in the nude at Espace Alternative gallery in Noida.
The miscreants were heard saying that Prakash’s paintings were “against Indian culture”, before they stormed in and tore the works. According to Prakash, the protestors were from a right-wing group and in the past have raised objecctions over his artwork saying that his paintings offend their beliefs. “I was in attendance at the art exhibition in the evening and I was taken by surprise when five people entered the gallery shouting slogans. They slapped me twice, threw me to the floor and then began pulling down the paintings, damaging three of my paintings. The images that were damaged were of Bollywood star Vidya Balan, Pakistani actress Veena Malik and model Poonam Pandey,” said the Noida-based painter who had earlier painted Arundhati Roy in the nude.
According to Prakash, one of the pictures ruined was that of Poonam Pandey in the nude, who was shown supporting anti corruption crusader Anna Hazare, with a Gandhi cap on her head, while Malik appears to be shown with the Pakistan flag painted on her back.
‘Hue’ and cry
Prakash was recently threatened when he exhibited his artwork titled ‘Bollywood Unlimited’ at the All-India Fine Arts and Crafts Society (AIFACS). However, he took it lightly. “As the AIFACS was a high security area, they were looking for another opportunity. I was attacked and remarked as anti-Indian for portraying real India through my paintings” said Prakash.
“There is a certain section of people who think they are the custodians of Indian culture, and anyone who disagrees with them is the enemy. I have a right to express my view and no one in this country can take away my freedom of expression. No one in this country should be suppressed against speaking his/her mind and this incident won’t stop me from painting a subject in the nude again,” added Prakash.
After Pooja Bhatt, Bollywood filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt’s second daughter has entered showbiz but not as an actress. She is following in her father’s footsteps by assisting director Vikram Bhatt on Raaz 3.
“My daughter Shaheen begins her journey as an assistant with Vikram Bhatt who was once my assistant!” the proud father posted on micro-blogging site Twitter.
Vikram Bhatt has returned to Vishesh Films after 2003 to direct part three of the horror franchise Raaz, which is being made in 3D.
The movie stars Emraan Hashmi and Jacqueline Fernandez along with Bipasha Basu, who is also making a comeback to the Bhatt camp after Raaz (2002) and Jism (2003). The Bhatts had offered her the lead role in Murder 2, but she had turned it down.
“Reporting live from Raaz 3 set. Today (Sunday) is the first day of our shooting. Bipasha and Emraan are on the sets. Vikram Bhatt is directing the film. Shagufta Rafique has written Raaz 3. It is a brave script which explores the horrors of the human heart,” Mahesh Bhatt posted.
