Bike Taxis Coming Soon to NCR

Bike taxis, a new concept that has been creating a buzz across the world, have received the Haryana government's approval and will soon be seen driving around Gurgaon. According to a report in Hindustan Times, the regional transport authority has given the approval to a private entity for the debut of the aforementioned service in Gurgaon.
One must note, after Goa, Haryana becomes the second state to approve bike taxis in India. Globally, this service is offered in several countries Sweden, China, Cameroon, Cambodia, Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, and Brazil.
Baxi, the operating agency owned by a Gurgaon-based company, intends to cater to daily travelers looking to commute to their respective destinations from metro stations and bus stops.
Ashutosh Johri, an IIT-Delhi alumnus and managing director of the company, said, "Our pilots (drivers) will be trained in hygiene, etiquette, safety and other aspects to make passengers comfortable with using our service. They will carry helmets and hair nets for pillion riders. Our bikes will be easily visible from a distance and all our pilots will be wearing uniforms."
The bike taxi service, with 100 motorcycles in its fleet, will be launched by the end of November.
NCR continues to struggle with congested roads despite the presence of the Delhi Metro and initiatives like Car Free Day. Perhaps the introduction of such services, even if one region at a time, may contribute towards the resolution of this issue that has the tendency to become a nightmare during rush hours.

Kawasaki to Launch Its Most Affordable Bike - Z250 - on October 16

Kawasaki to Launch Its Most Affordable Bike - Z250 - on October 16Before we get started, remember we first told you about the Kawasaki Z250's impending arrival in India way back in February? Back then reports had us believe that Kawasaki was planning to bring in its most affordable bike - the Z250 - here by June, 2014. Turns out, the company decided it needed more time to bring in this baby and agreed to keep its Indian audience hooked with the launch of the Z800 and Z1000 in the meanwhile. However, the wait is almost over, for Kawasaki is said to be now gearing up to launch the Z250 and the Er-6n in a few days; on October 16, 2014, to be precise.
The Kawasaki Z250 looks similar to the Z800, thanks to its headlight and tank design that have been borrowed from the latter. That said, the Z250 also finds inspiration in the Ninja 300, primarily due to the identical tail section and alloy wheels. Its instrument console looks similar to that of the Ninja 300, and includes an analogue tachometer and an LCD screen that displays speed, trip and fuel level information.
Now, for the engine: the Kawasaki Z250 is powered by a 249cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin motor that develops 33bhp and 21Nm of turning power. Power is transmitted to the rear wheel via a 6-speed gearbox, which also does duty on the Ninja 250R. As far as fuel efficiency is concerned, the bike gets a fuel-injection system and dual throttle valve technology to help the cause.
