Another great actor has passed away. Nicol Williamson, the Scottish actor whom playwright John Osborne described as “the greatest actor since Marlon Brando”, died of esophageal cancer on December 16, 2011 in Amsterdam, where he had lived for more than two decades.
Breaking the sad news to fans was Nicol’s son Luke. He wrote on the 75-year-old’s website on Wednesday, January 25, “It’s with great sadness, and yet with a heart full of pride and love for a man who was a tremendous father, friend, actor, poet, writer and singer, that I must bring news of

Nicol’s passing.” “Dad died peacefully in the early hours of the 16th of December after a two year all out, balls to the wall struggle against esophageal cancer,” Luke went on. “He gave it all he had: never gave up, never complained, maintained his wicked sense of humor to the end. His last words were ‘I love you’. I was with him, he was not alone, he was not in pain.”
Luke additionally mentioned, “Before he died Nicol was able to finish the CD he had been working on, albeit slightly shorter than it might have been. In the coming month i hope to have it up here on his website.” He also asked fans to “make a donation” in his father’s name “to a charity for children suffering from cancer or other life threatening illnesses”.
Nicol was known for his role as Merlin in 1981 film “Excalibur” and for his portrayal of Sherlock Holmes in 1976 movie “The Seven Per-Cent Solution”. He earned BAFTA nominations for his work in “The Bofors Gun” and “Inadmissible Evidence”. Throughout his career, he also received two Tony Award nominations.
In addition to Luke, Nicol was also survived by wife Jill Townsend.

Millionaire PayPal founder Elon Musk’s Actress Wife Talulah Riley has filed for divorce.
The British “Pride and Prejudice” actress — named Talulah Riley — filed the papers on January 17th, citing “irreconcilable differences” … one day before Musk publicly announced the couple’s split on Twitter.
In a telephone interview with Forbes on the 18th, Musk — worth a reported $680 million — made it sound as though he was the driving force behind the divorce, claiming, “I still love her, but I’m not in love with her. And I can’t really give her what she wants.”
The Forbes headline reads, “Elon Musk to Divorce Wife” — but clearly, Talulah beat him to the punch. So far, Elon has NOT filed divorce documents.
It’s unclear who truly wished to end the relationship, or whether it was a mutual.

Katherine Heigl T0pless InStyle: Katherine Heigl On InStyle February 2012

Getting a little extra publicity in the Land Down Under, Katherine Heigl is the cover star of the February 2012 issue of InStyle Australia.
The 33-year-old big screen beauty posed for a teasingly sexy spread shot by David Gubert while talking candidly about her new movie “One For The Money,” the film industry, romance and marriage.
On playing a bounty hunter in “One for The Money”:
“It was fun. It took some getting used to, doing these things, admittedly. We went to a range to practice shooting and it was exhilarating. I was actually a pretty decent shot. The character is from small-town New Jersey, brave and bold, but in over her head. That’s what makes you root for her.”
On whether she’s ever had contact with past lovers over the years:
“A year after high school I tried to get my high-school boyfriend to date me again. I had relocated from Connecticut to Los Angeles and was really striking out in the dating department. And I remember thinking, ‘My high-school sweetheart was kind of great. I wonder if he would take me back?’ But it didn’t work out [laughs]. Oh well. It worked out for me in the end.”
On whether she thinks that speaking her mind about the industry has ever weighed against her:
“Sometimes it has and sometimes it hasn’t. There was a minute when I was afraid to say anything at all. But in my mind there’s a difference between foot-in-mouth comments and being forthright. If I’m passionate about a subject, then I should be brave enough to talk about it honestly and not worry about people’s reactions. It’s never my intention to offend anyone, so when I have, I’ve been horrified.”
On if she thinks she’s thin-skinned or thick-skinned:
“Totally thin-skinned! I’m a big baby. I feel like men can sort of shrug their shoulders if people have a strong reaction to something they’ve said. Whereas I spent two years questioning everything about myself. Maybe I am ungrateful? Maybe I am too opinionated? So yes, I’m thin-skinned.”
On whether there’s anything that has surprised or challenged her about marriage:
“Well you can’t completely prepare for it. You don’t know what to expect until you’re in it. We didn’t live together before we got married because I was clinging to my ‘bachelorettedom’. It requires a lot more thoughtfulness than I had maybe realized. Communication can be difficult, and sometimes whatever you’re saying is not exactly what they’re hearing and that can start to breed resentment. You don’t even know it’s happening. Maybe one or the other is not feeling noticed enough or taken care of enough. You can love someone so intensely, and know they love you intensely, and still manage to completely f*** it up.”
